Missing Codecs
Windows includes several common codecs which are installed by default during
Windows Setup when a sound card is installed in the computer. ReVoice
Studio requires that you have the following codec for video playback: Indeo
Video R3.2 or Indeo Video 5.1 (others may be present).
To verify that the codecs included with Windows 95 (and 98) are installed,
follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs, click the Windows Setup
tab, click Multimedia, and then click Details.
- Verify that the Video Compression check box is selected. If it is
not selected, click to select the check box, and then click OK.
You can verify that the required Indeo codec is installed by following these
steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control
Panel.
- Double-click Multimedia, click the Devices tab (Advanced
tab in Windows 95)
- If you have video playback problems, double-click Video Compression Codec
to expand the branch.
- You should see either or both Indeo Video R3.2 or Indeo Video
5.10 (and possibly other similar codecs) in the list. This next
instructions verifies that this Codec is enabled (turned on) for use.
- Click the Indeo Video codec, and then click Properties.
- Make sure the box is not selected for "Do not map through this
device". If it is, Click "Do not map through this device",
ensure the box is not ticked, and then click OK.
- Now close all the system windows and retry running ReVoice Studio.
(For the moment - we are going to assume the CODEC is not damaged.)
If the Indeo Video codec is not listed (i.e. not installed), follow
these steps:
- In your Internet browser, click here
to go to download the Indeo Codec for PCs but read (2) and (3) below, before
you do this.
- In the Ligos download page, under Select your Download, in the box,
click on Indeo Video 3.2, 4.5, 5.11 and Indeo Audio 2.5 Codecs, then
click the Next button.
- Follow the on screen instructions on the Ligos web site to install the Video
Codecs on your system.
