Get Supremely Tight Vocals With Revoice Pro – Nate Campany

Nate Campany is a songwriter/producer born in Cleveland, Ohio, now based in Los Angeles and signed to Prescription (RX) Songs.

After studying classical piano at a young age, he soon learnt to arrange chords and melodies in his own style, which subsequently developed into creating fully structured songs with lyrics. That process continues to unfold and expand and together with his partner Kyle Shearer, the duo have since gone on to produce and write for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Carly Rae Jepsen, Charlotte OC, Phoebe Ryan, LP, Tove Lo and Martin Garrix/Dua Lipa plus many more. Outside of making music, Nate likes history books, Charles Dickens, chilli, Sweden and the rain.

"Every day, session and song has its own set of hurdles and challenges, and getting over each of them is rewarding. But if I had to pick one project that stands out for me, I would say working with LP and writing ‘Lost On You’. Mainly because she had been signed and dropped a handful of times, and she has a voice that is so big and special, that it's sometimes hard to hear where a song should go, or if what you have written already is actually good, or if it just sounds good because her voice is so good."

"A lot of the time, having really tight vocal stacks and harmonies is necessary to get that polished pop sound people are used to now."

Current projects for the duo include K, Flay, more work with Carly Rae Jepsen and they've been incorporating Revoice Pro for getting what they dub 'supremely tight vocals'.

"A lot of the time, having really tight vocal stacks and harmonies is necessary to get that polished pop sound people are used to now. We used to do our doubles by hand, which was very time consuming, but have been loving the tight pitch/time preset that Revoice Pro gives you. So efficient! Using Revoice Pro's algorithms creates results that would be nearly impossible to get any other way."

Collaboration is a big part of Nate's process, constantly switching between software and platforms, and Revoice Pro easily integrates into every version of his workflow. On their recent song with Dua Lipa and Martin Garrix, they were simultaneously working in Pro Tools and Logic while Garrix worked in FL Studio.

"In the fast-paced, ever-changing landscape of songwriters and producers, expectation of speed is paramount and Revoice Pro fits seamlessly into part of the creative process. Revoice Pro is instrumental in the ability to get an amazing, finished product without sacrificing quality."

The duo places strong emphasis on any tools that help them take a song past the finish line as fast as possible - and when it comes to industry experience, have some wise words to share:

"We used to do our doubles by hand which is very time consuming, but have been loving the tight pitch/time preset that Revoice Pro gives you. So efficient! Using Revoice Pro's algorithms creates results that would be nearly impossible to get any other way."

"There is no magic sauce. At the end of the day you only have your experience and instincts to rely on, so you should do your best to always serve them. There is no right way to do something, so if you are experimenting, and something sounds good, go with it. Don’t undo it just because someone said it was an incorrect way of doing something. Writing and producing, just like anything, takes time and repetition to get good at, and comfortable with. So just make sure that during the process you are open to learning new things, and having fun!"
